Dustin Lee Hoffman was born on 8 August 1937 in Los Angeles. He trained at the Pasadena Playhouse and in New York, worked off-Broadway, and became widely known with The Graduate (1967) and Midnight Cowboy (1969). He later won Academy Awards for Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) and Rain Man (1988). Other films include Little Big Man, Papillon, Lenny, All the President’s Men, Marathon Man, Tootsie, Wag the Dog, and Meet the Fockers. He has also worked on the stage, including a late-career appearance in Death of a Salesman.
