Our Story

It all started in 1999 with a website of our own. The concept was “Dating byHoroscope”, a matchmaking platform where only singles could register. Everyone already has two signs, a Chinese one and a Western one, so we named all 144 pairings, wrote a personality profile for each DoubleSign, and used a proprietary compatibility formula to help people find their astrological match.

Then something unexpected happened. Our users revolted, lovingly. Messages poured in: “We’re married and want to read about our signs together.” “I’m in a relationship but I love sharing my DoubleSign with friends.” “I’m not looking to date, but I can’t stop reading about every sign combination.” People didn’t just want matchmaking. They wanted a way to understand themselves and the people in their lives.

That feedback changed everything. “Dating byHoroscope” became “Friends byHoroscope”™: a social identity platform where anyone could discover their DoubleSign, explore compatibility with friends, family, and partners, and share their astrological profile with the world.

In its original run, the site grew to 90,000 registered users and a devoted following. Each of the 144 DoubleSigns, from Rat/Aries to Pig/Pisces, carries its own personality description that blends Eastern and Western traditions into something entirely new. What began as a dating experiment had become a living archive of astrological identity.

DoubleSign.com closed in 2006. Today it is being revived: the same 144 DoubleSigns, the same proprietary compatibility formula, rebuilt for a new generation. Est. 1999, back online and open to everyone.

The Creative Team

The original 144 DoubleSign™ personality descriptions were written by our founding astrologer, drawing on decades of astrological research to craft profiles that feel personal and true-to-life.

How It Works

Everyone already has at least two signs from birth: an Eastern one (we call it your Chinese Horoscope sign, set by your birth year) and a Western Horoscope sign, set by your birth date. Together they are your DoubleSign, and 12 Chinese signs times 12 Western signs make 144 in all. Because neither calendar starts on January 1 (the Chinese year turns on a different day each year, and the Western signs shift mid-month), it is not obvious which two are yours. That is what the calculator is for: enter a birthday and it pinpoints your exact DoubleSign, its characteristics, and who it is compatible with.

The DoubleSign™ Calculator uses a proprietary formula that weighs Chinese Horoscope harmony, Western Horoscope compatibility, and elemental balance to generate a unique compatibility score for any two people.

Our Technology
