Dennis Rodman

Dennis Keith Rodman was born on 13 May 1961 in Trenton, New Jersey, and spent part of his youth in Dallas, Texas. After working at the airport he played college basketball at Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Detroit Pistons drafted him in 1986. He became a defensive specialist and rebounder on the “Bad Boys” teams that won NBA titles in 1989 and 1990, then won championships with the Chicago Bulls in 1996, 1997, and 1998. He led the league in rebounding for seven straight seasons and was named Defensive Player of the Year twice.

He later played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011. Off the court he became widely known for dyed hair, fashion, and later visits to North Korea. He also wrote memoirs and appeared in films and reality television after his main playing years. The site’s calendar, using 15 February 1961 as Chinese New Year, reads 13 May as Ox/Taurus.
