What each sign is like as a child, the temperament that shows up early. Read all 24 signs and the young personalities behind them.
Children · Chinese Horoscope

Year of the Rat
Children that are born under the Sign of the Rat love to be cuddled. When
young, the Rat child can be enormously dependent upon its parents for
support, but later in life they can develop natural leadership qualities.
All Rats eventually begin to exhibit active intellects, such that they
require regular naps to provide them with plenty of sleep. In school, the
young Rat child is eager to learn.
Rat children enjoy collecting things, and like to fill their bedrooms with
stamps, shells, bottle caps, or any one of a hundred collectible objects.
Generally, young Rats are smart little people who are very apt pupils in
school. They are well-rounded individuals, and many of them excel at
sports, too. Being born members of the first Sign of the Chinese zodiac can
give Rat kids a superiority complex!

Year of the Ox
Children born under the sign of the Ox are quiet and amenable. They develop
into solid, independent, resourceful children, and are happiest when left
to entertain themselves. If interrupted, provoked or forced to do something
against their will, they are likely to pout or throw a quiet tantrum,
despite their audience.
Generally, Ox children are shy, and for many, childhood is quite lonely.
This is due partly to their preference for solitude and partly to the
disparate age range of their siblings. At school, subjects with a
constructive appeal will be of the most interest to them. They are also
very interested in organized sports and can be very active when properly
motivated. Children born under the Sign of the Ox are respectful, polite
and hardworking.

Year of the Tiger
Tiger kids are cheerful children with a zest and passion for life that is
ignited by their curious nature. Boys and girls alike will enjoy the
competitiveness and athleticism of organized sports. From an early age,
Tiger children cannot pass on a dare or a challenge. Intelligent and
friendly, Tiger children manifest a vast curiosity about life in general
and their immediate environment in particular.
In school, they are apt to do better at subjects that give them the ability
and creative freedom to express themselves. When it comes to rote learning,
they are apt to balk and become disruptive, but this is not due to any
intellectual failings on their part, merely with how the material is
presented to them. Tiger children are more inclined to be audiovisual
learners rather than text-based learners.

Year of the Rabbit
Rabbits can be very hypersensitive as children. They tend to let their
emotions get the best of them and will cry without shame if their world is
threatened. At school, these children often get teased for being so
sensitive and will be labeled as crybabies by their classmates. Rabbit
children are especially close to their mothers and maintain an
exceptionally close relationship with them throughout their lives.
They depend on their mothers for advice and support and will reciprocate
when necessary. Rabbit children are desperate for stability and routine and
require a great deal of accurate scheduling in order to do their best work.
Like the adult Rabbit, Rabbit children are likely to be quite interested in
the arts, particularly in music, a subject in which most Rabbit children do
very well at school.

Year of the Dragon
Like their adult counterparts, children born in the Year of the Dragon have
vivid personalities and are independent from birth. Noisy and active,
parents should stimulate their imaginations as soon as possible. Their
inquisitive natures can be troublesome for the Dragon child, and can often
land them in trouble at school. This can cause teachers to label them as
habitual troublemakers, when they're really just bored.
Dragon children tend to be loners who daydream and drift into their own
private world of make-believe. Either way, Dragon children demand careful
attention and special handling in order to bring out the best in them.
Their creativity and talents should be encouraged, even if it means
spending extra time in certain school subjects in order to help them master
the subject.

Year of the Snake
Snake children are often loners, enjoying playing by themselves, quietly in
their yards or bedrooms. They are often hampered with learning disabilities
and thus need patience from teachers and parents. If they are forced to pay
attention they can often respond by drifting off into their own private
dream world. They cannot be made to enjoy any given topic if they take a
dislike to it!
Teachers and parents may have to lavish extra time and attention upon the
Snake child in order to keep him or her up to date with all of the other
children of their age group. When picked on or upset, Snake children tend
to pout and hold grudges, and if publicly embarrassed or humiliated, they
will lash out at their tormentor with no hold barred.

Year of the Horse
Horse children are highly talkative and love to hear the sound of their own
voice, even when it's spouting nonsense, as it so often is. At an early age
these kids begin gurgling and "talking" to everyone in earshot. They will
babble for hours without saying anything at all. In the long run these
children will prove to have a great gift for learning foreign languages and
will generally excel at communication skills.
Horse children are as independent as possible and will fight for their
rights if they feel they’ve been wronged. They will also rebel if they feel
justice has not been served. This can make them quite a handful for parents
who may not be able to dispense justice among their children in as even-handed a fashion as their Horse child may require.

Year of the Goat
Goat children are very sensitive. They cry at the drop of a hat, especially
if their feelings are hurt or they are embarrassed. Often they will cry and
indulge in grand temper tantrums in order to get what they want, and this
behavior should be discouraged in them as quickly as possible. They are
dependent on their parents and love to be affectionate with other members
of their family.
Goats do not exhibit a great deal of self-confidence, with the result that
their parents and teachers are generally responsible for encouraging them
to bring out their inherent artistic natures. They are well-behaved, well-mannered children, who despise aggression and conflict. Goats can often be
bossy towards their younger siblings.

Year of the Monkey
Little Monkeys are full of life. They are vivacious and colorful
characters, curious about everything, but rarely plumbing the depths of any
single subject in order to achieve mastery. Monkeys can’t sit still for
long and concentrating is not always easy for them. In school they are
sharp and intellectual, finding schoolwork easy to do. However, they can be
the class clown, but not without consequences.
Their antics can be disturbing to other children, which can land them in a
heap of trouble. Monkeys will be in for their share of disciplinary action
if they cannot be logically convinced to curb their disruptive behavior for
the good of their fellow students. Mere discipline in heavier and heavier
doses will be insufficient, as it will merely cause the Monkey child to
increase their rebellious behavior.

Year of the Rooster
Children born in the Year of the Rooster are generally very bright and
strikingly intelligent, often learning to read at a very early age. They
tend to be highly creative and alert. They easily play and interact with
other children and generally like to learn new things. They are eager to
please parents and teachers alike.
However, Rooster children do not make the best scholars and they tend to
excel in subjects where interaction and social skills are required. They
are not fond of study and need to be carefully chivvied towards the goal of
the more cerebral types of learning. Rooster kids are very outgoing, and if
anything need to be carefully restrained from the more socially
unacceptable varieties of boisterous behavior, such as frequent public
nudity.

Year of the Dog
Children born under the Sign of the Dog are highly creative and able to
entertain themselves for hours on end. They don’t mind playing by
themselves, often inventing games and puzzles while doing so, as well as an
entire zoo of imaginary friends. They are responsible children who love to
take on and complete as many tasks as are possible, as such behavior gives
them a sense of accomplishment.
Parents of Dog children may become concerned about their child's serious
nature, but they shouldn't be. Such determination in the face of life
must certainly stand their child in good stead throughout their educational
career, not to mention the real world thereafter. They should count
themselves very fortunate!

Year of the Pig
Children born under the Sign of the Pig in the Chinese zodiac are intensely
jolly and pretty, although they may, true to their Sign, have a slight
problem with baby fat. This weight problem is not unhealthy, however, and
will generally iron itself out around puberty.
These children have little or no problem learning how to interact with
other kids on the playground, and are generally very popular in the
schoolyard, with lots of friends from grammar school on up the grades. Pig
kids have unswerving confidence in themselves and in others, and are
generally not susceptible to nervousness or uncertainty about their future.
Life holds nothing but good things in store for them, and they seem to know
this ahead of time!
Children · Western Horoscope

Aries
Outgoing Aries children make for natural born leaders. These children are
often the class president, quarterback or prom queen. Learning to share and
learning to lose will be difficult lessons for these children to learn. If
communications skills are strong in this child, she will show high
intelligence early in life.
Aries children can also manifest the negative aspects of their sign,
displaying hyperactivity and in extreme cases, violence. Prone to moving
much too quickly, these children can be quite prone to accidents and easily
hurt themselves, especially their knees and shins. Too much selfishness can
lead to difficulties with siblings and playmates. Good sharing habits
must inculcated in them as soon as possible.

Taurus
Taurus children love clothes and food early on. They appreciate the finer
things in life. They often have wonderful voices and enjoy singing and
acting as pastimes. Sign them up for acting or singing classes if such a
tendency toward these arts manifests itself! A parent will not be
disappointed in the long run. On the negative side, this little Bull child
can be very quiet, stubborn and possessive.
They can even be possessive of friends or family, not wanting others to
share their things, be it people or property. They are quite slow to anger,
but when a Taurus child does eventually get mad they do not get over it
quickly and can throw a whopper of a temper tantrum in the process. They
can be so stubborn that they will not try anything new, from food to
friends to toys.

Gemini
Gemini children are entertainers. They are never at a loss for words. In
general, Gemini children are very intelligent and love to learn. Writing
comes easily to them. When you have heard enough from them for one day, sit
them down to write and the whole family will be happier. Give them
microphones and computers to keep them from tiring of any one communicative
activity.
They can be very humorous when the spirit moves them, and may indeed grow
up to be professional comedians. They are so good with persuasive speeches
that they can sell anything to anybody. It will be necessary to keep an eye
on the Gemini child to prevent them from swindling their little playmates
out of everything that they possess!

Cancer
You can usually find a Cancer child safely at home. They often have their
own special spot or private room. They also love to save everything. You
can always spot a Cancer child, for they are the ones that have the secret
stash of candy left over from the holidays.
Cancer kids are prone to wallow in their own depression when things go
wrong, and it is up to the parents to snap them out of it. Like the Crab
that they are, these kids resent intrusion into their private space.
Some Cancer kids can cling to their mothers long after an appropriate age
for doing so. At their worse, Cancer children will be selfish and
secretive. They may become overly aggressive or competitive to compensate.
It is necessary to encourage these children to express their feelings.
Logic, not one of their strong points, need to be learned. Hug them often,
as they love to be held. This will help alleviate clingy, needy behavior
and keep them out of their shells.

Leo
Leo children must always be right, even when they are in the wrong.
Whenever a Leo child is lectured for misbehaving, it must be phrased in
such a way that they come out of the lecture with their pride uninjured. If
criticized severely, they will become defensive and never change what needs
to be changed. They have very strong egos that they must protect at all
times. In order to get a Leo child to change their unacceptable behavior,
first tell the child what is good about their character.
Then you can tell them the behavior you would like to see them change.
Sometimes a Leo child can be so self-absorbed that they will be insensitive
to other children around them, and indeed hurt their feelings without
thinking. Leo children cannot be allowed to control and dominate everyone
for the purposes of their own ego! Leo children must be taught to share
their toys. Be careful they don't bully or dominate their siblings or the
whole family will suffer.

Virgo
Virgo children are miniature perfectionists. They excel at organizing
everything, from their toys to the silverware on the table. No detail is
missed by these little martinets! They can sometimes be a bit extreme in
their orderly behavior. Virgos are sticklers for a tidy environment, and
indeed will tend to boss around other children their own age in order to
achieve this goal. They also love to alphabetize their books and keep their
toys in set positions in their toy chests.
Virgo children are very good at taking care of other children, even at very
early ages. They are very happy when they are trusted with parental
authority by proxy, but they must be watched to insure that they don't
abuse this authority. Nothing makes them happier than to take care of sick
people and animals. Make sure they do not serve others to such an extent
that they sacrifice their own desires!

Libra
It is best not to allow Libra children to lie around all day, as they are
lazy at heart and need to be pushed into doing things. An emphasis on
artistic and musical pursuits will help eliminate this problem. Get them in
art and music classes so they socialize and express their natural talents.
The Libra child needs to be around people and will have many friends. If
they do not have enough friends it is not unusual for them to invent
imaginary ones.
Their charming attitude can lead to habitual lying in order to be liked by
others. They end up telling people what they think the other person wants
to hear. Libra kids can spend so much time trying to be charming and
popular that they often neglect their own personal needs, which can lead to
wild outbursts of anger in time. Libra kids need to learn to confront
problems head on and work at it until they find a solution, and not to just
run away, which is their natural tendency when things get troublesome.

Scorpio
Scorpio children are rarely sick, and if they do get sick, they recover
very quickly. Not many people will understand their need for secrecy or
their intensity. When angered, Scorpio kids can be very vengeful, and they
never forget or forgive a perceived slight.
If driven to anger, Scorpio children can turn it all inward, and this will
lead to secrecy, jealousy and at the extreme, violence.
It is necessary to give Scorpio children both physical and mental outlets
for this violent energy. Without such tactics, Scorpio kids can end up
wallowing in negativity indefinitely, which will cause depression. They can
be very, very stubborn and difficult to work with. These children are very
intense, intuitive and can tell when someone is not truthful with them.
They need adults to rely upon even though they act as though they were
supremely independent.

Sagittarius
In the Sagittarius child we have the most friendly, cheerful and outgoing
child in the entire Western zodiac. These children are enthusiastic,
optimistic and generally happy. They are seekers after truth, and are very
active both physically and mentally. They love a good debate in search of
the correct answer. Sagittarius children love school and the process of
learning, and they are quite good at the duties of scholarship as well as
all extracurricular activities.
They have a keen appreciation of philosophy and religion at what may seem
to be an excessively early age. They definitely have their own idea of what
the truth entails, and enjoy broadcasting it to all who will listen to
them. Sagittarius kids are indeed a delight to behold and are extremely
friendly with other children as well.

Capricorn
The Capricorn child can be almost ridiculously serious at times for their
age. They will seem to become more comfortable as they grow older. They
have a difficult time having fun, as they regard homework and work in
general as more fun then recess and games. Capricorn kids can be trusted to
baby-sit or cook dinner, but they need to be encouraged to add a little
passion to their drive to be successful and responsible in life.
These children will put themselves on a schedule if you do not. They are
very ambitious, practical and hard working. The Capricorn child learns the
value of money at a very early age. They are also very practical with their
time and rarely waste it on frivolous activities.
They work toward perfectionism and get very disappointed when they cannot
achieve it. Encourage them to be children while they are still young!

Aquarius
Being different and offbeat is the stock in trade of the standard-issue
Aquarius child. Such novelty of thought and expression can manifest itself
in dress or behavior. These children are inventors and creators. They need
more freedom than children belonging to any other Sign in the Western
zodiac. Computers can be of great value early in life to Aquarius children,
as they are fascinated by technology.
Being dramatic and spontaneous is an essential part of their nature.
Aquarius kids crave new things and new experiences. If these children
become bored with routine, be aware that they might stir up trouble just to
keep drama and excitement going in their lives. Give them a variety of
things to do, from science to history to exciting stories in order to keep
them from becoming bored and causing a fuss.

Pisces
Children born under the Sign of Pisces usually have so many emotions
surging through them that they are often scared. They have the imagination
necessary to create private worlds of their own for security purposes.
Fearful of many things, from monsters in the closet to loud noises, these
children must learn that taking risks is a part of life.
Once they see that not everything on earth is out to get them, they can
slowly build up confidence in themselves. Pisces kids will instinctively
hasten to comfort anyone in the slightest bit of emotional or physical
pain. Music and the creative arts will allow the Pisces child to live in a
more realistic structured environment, rather than their private dream
world. They are often taken advantage of by other, more forceful children
and should be supervised carefully to insure that this does not occur too
often!
